WORSHIP is central to who we are as Presbyterians. Everything we do flows from our worship of Almighty God. During the summer months our worship is a little less formal, including the style of worship and the general attire of the congregation.
Music is an integral part of our worship, enriched by our Chancel Choir, which is open to anyone who desires to "make a joyful noise to the Lord." The choir rehearses each Wednesday at 7:45pm. A Bell Choir also enhances our worship experience from time to time, as well as an instrumental ensemble. Children's Choirs and other ensembles are used seasonally. Several times a year the choir, often with small orchestral accompaniment, presents a major musical work during our worship hour.
Christian Education is provided for all ages. A nursery is provided for our youngest children. Our broadly graded children's classes include a class for Three Year Olds -Second Grade who are exploring the great stories of the Old Testament. The Third Grade - Eighth Grade are surveying Chruch History learning about how the church developed from the early church through the Reformation to today. Our Ninth Grade - College Age Young Adults are examining a variety of Faith Questions.
Adult Education is very important to us as well.
We provide three Adult Sunday School Classes.
Seekers - A Bible Study class that uses a denominational curriculum. This fall they will explore
Wisdom Literature as found in the Old Testament and learn how Jesus teaches Wisdom in the
gospel of Matthew.
Wonderers - A book study class that is currently studying Rob Bell's book, Velvet Elvis.
Itinerants - A new class that will be taking a journey through contemporary topics, meeting and walking
with others who are seeking wisdom to live in today's world.
Other adult options include:
A Ladies Bible Study that meets once a month on the third Wednesday of the month at 10:00 am.
A Men's Bible Study group known as Men in Covenant meets the first and thrida Saturday morning
for breakfast and study at 7:00 am.
Our Exceptional Class is designed for the mentally handicapped. This class has been a part of our ministry for over 30 years.
Youth Fellowship is a time for our youth to enjoy recreation, study, service and faith building. Two groups meet each Sunday evening during the school year. Our Third Grade - Eighth Grade youth enjoy a snack, a short discussion about their faith and a recreation time. Our High School youth enjoy a Bible study and recreation time on Sunday nights as well as a weekly Bible study. They look forward to the annual Youth Conference at Montreat each summer, and they get the opportunity to tell us about that experience when they lead worship on Youth Sunday.
Covenant Pre-school has been serving the needs of the community for 43 years. We offer classes for children who are 1 year-old through 4 years-old.
We also believe in sharing our church facilities with community organizations. Currently the following organizations meet at Covenant:
Presbyterian Women at Covenant are organized into three circles where women meet monthly for Bible study, mission work, and fellowship. Two circles meet during the day and one meets at night.
M.U.S.T. Ministries is a locally based community ministry which supports those who need a helping hand. Each summer our church provided 350 bag lunches each Sunday for a month so that young children will have something to eat on Monday.
Souper Bowl of Caring is our annual offering which goes to M.U.S.T. Ministries. Our youth collect $1 from each one in worship as well as any canned goods brought that day and deliver them to M.U.S.T.
Our Christmas Shoe Box ministry collects shoe boxes full of toys and toiletries during November each year to be shipped overseas to children around the world.
In this economy many are looking for jobs. Job Seekers is a free program that helps with the process in a spiritual atmosphere.
Our local university, Kennesaw State University, has a Presbyterian ministry on campus. Dan Boles is the Presbyterian Campus Lay Minister.
